Snowbird...Weekend #1

October 8th, was the beginning of our week at Snowbird.
And yes, there was snow.

There was a mommy racoon and her baby hanging out by the condo...this is the best picture we could get.

Kile made slushy drinks for the family like he does every year.  It's one of our favorite traditions.
We went to Oktoberfest.  It's fun to listen to the music and walk around and check out the various things that are going on.

We stayed until Monday night, and then came home for work and school for the week.  My next post will be all about weekend #2 at the Bird.

The lengths I will go for a Diet Coke

I am sick.  Really sick and of course, I have lost my voice.  This morning I just wanted some breakfast and a Diet Coke. I didn't feel up to making any breakfast and there was no Diet Coke in the house.  So, I had a great idea...I would hit McDonald's, get a breakfast combo and a large Diet Coke.  Oh wait, I can't talk... no one will be able to hear me when I try to order at  the drive through.

So then, I get the idea to have Destrie order for me.  We pull up to order, and I tell him what to say.  "Tell them we want a #3 combo,"  I say.

Destrie says, "I want a #3 condo."   The girl taking the order was perplexed...I could tell by her voice.  "What do you want?" she says.  "Say combo, not condo,"  I tell Destrie.

This time he got it right.  I know the girl was wondering why a child was placing an order, but you know what, I didn't even care.  I got my breakfast and a Diet Coke and all is good with the world.

Oh wait, no it's not...I am still sick and I still can't talk....Grrrr

Happy Birthday Kile 10-11-11

Not a great picture...sorry for the glare from the window.  Anyway, Kile's birthday was yesterday... and he was in St.George for training.  We had to give him his birthday present before he left.  He has always wanted a movie theater popcorn popper, sot that's what he got!

If you know anything about the Fishers... it's the fact that they LOVE popcorn.  I am sure that this present will come in handy for him.  We are looking forward to having some popcorn parties!

Happy Birthday Kile!  Love ya!

Adventures in Dental Work

On a recent trip to the dentist, we found out that Madee had 3 baby teeth on the top of her mouth that had never fallen out.  After looking at some X-rays, we were informed that 2 of the teeth were there inside her gums, but were not coming down.  The third baby tooth had no other tooth there...it was missing...nothing... no tooth to replace the baby tooth (thank you Kile-he had this same problem when he was younger, except he was missing two teeth.)  Anyway, the two teeth that are up in her mouth are not coming down correctly and will begin to grow through the roof of her mouth if left unattended to.

Ugh,  I feel awful just thinking about it.  Long story short, she got braces 2 weeks ago, the baby teeth will be taken out by an oral surgeon, and an incision will be made in her gums so they can anchor on to the two teeth that aren't coming down and pull them in to the correct position.  Each tooth will need to be moved about a half inch. She will need an implant to replace the non existent tooth.   Not fun.  The orthodontist has suggested that this procedure take place during Christmas break.  That sounds like a great Christmas right?

And to top it all off...we get to pay for this all by ourselves.  The dental insurance that is offered at Kile's work is horribly expensive and doesn't pay for much.  So, it's not worth having.     Not feeling to happy  about this right now...but I feel even worse for Madee.  Dang...that's going to hurt.
