Week # 8

This week is shaping up to very busy...just like every other week has this summer. I continue to try to cram as much fun into these last few weeks of summer as I possibly can. This Saturday is our 5th annual block party. Me and Kile, along with our neighbors, the Skinners- host this party each year. We supply the hamburgers and my neighbors usually do the hot dogs and homemade rootbeer. We ask the neighbors to bring a potluck item to share. It must be a fun event because people start asking us around the beginning of July if we are doing the block party! This will be a good reason to do a little more yard work this week =)

Following is our list of upcoming weekly activities.

July 28th-July 30th
Tuesday: Local Road Trip
Wednesday: Swimming and Tanning
Thursday: Ogden Trip

* On Tuesday, me and the kids are just going to get in the car, and see where we end up. We will drive around and find some interesting things to do here in our little corner of the world.

Take me out to the ball game

On Thursday, we went to a Salt Lake Bee's game.
Outside the stadium, Destrie met McGruff the crime dog.

Destrie got a bat and a hat that most of the players signed.

We had tasty stadium hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy and ice cream.

After the game, there was a Michael Jackson themed fireworks show.
What a fun night!!!

Week #7

First, let me just say that the summer is going way too fast. There are still a bunch of things that we want to do. Oh well, here is the week's upcoming activities.

Kiley has been gone the last two weeks and now that she is back, Madee is gone. Madison is staying at my brothers house in Eagle Mountain for a few days. Her cousin, Hailie is the same age as her and they like to get together for a few days each summer. Having said that, Kiley was sad that she missed the River Walk trail and cooking day last week so we will be repeating those activities from last week.

July 21st- July 23rd

Tuesday: Bonneville Shoreline Trail and River Walk Trail
Wednesday: Cooking Day
Thursday: Game Day

I am on a mission to cram in as much fun as possible before our summer slips away from us.

Letting Go

I read this the other day on my cousins blog. I really liked it and thought I would pass it on for anyone else who may find it helpful. Thanks Mardee for sharing this.

To let go doesn't mean to stop caring; it means I can't do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off; it is the realization that I can't control another.
To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try to change or blame another; I can only change myself.
To let go is not to care for; but to care about.
To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging outcomes, but to allow others to effect their own outcomes.
To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny, but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, but to search out my own shortcomings and to correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes and to cherish the moment.
To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone, but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.
To let go is to fear less and love more.

Week #6

Kiley is gone again this week. She is at EFY at Utah State. Following is our list of fun for me, Madee and Destrie.

July 14th-July 16th
Tuesday: Cooking Day
Wednesday: Tummi Yummi's
Thursday: River Walk Trail

*Cooking day- We will pick a couple of recipes to make, shop for what we need, and make it.

* Tummi's Yummi's was such a hit we are going back again this week. It is a frozen yogurt place in Logan, located on 1400 N. in the Pinecrest Shopping Center. It is a build your own frozen yogurt place, you choose what kind you want and how much and then you add any toppings you want- they have several to choose from. They weigh your cup and your total is calculated by how much your cup weighed. There is a basketball hoop and a couple other games there that you can play also. It is a fun place... check it out.

* We do the River Walk trail every summer at least once. It is a good little walk that is fun for everyone. It is fairly shaded and really enjoyable. The walk is about 2 miles round trip.

Coming up on Saturday, is the Godfrey Family Reunion in Riverdale. After the reunion, we will be school shopping and later that night we will go out for dinner- possibly at Red Robbin... YUM!

Week #5

Here is a look at our activities for the upcoming week. Kiley is at girl's camp, so it will be me, Madee and Destrie having some summer fun.
July 6th-July 9th

Monday: (no cleaning today!)
Go to the movie- Tale of Desperaux
Frozen Yogurt @ Tummi Yummi's
Tuesday: Shopping @Dollar Tree
Wednesday: Walk to get a Rainbow Snow
Thursday: Swimming @ Logan Aquatic Center

*Madee and Destrie love Dollar Tree! It is their favorite and they ask me to take them there all the time. You can find some pretty cool stuff for $1. Another thing Madee loves is walking to get a Rainbow Snow. She has been known to go there in the winter! The lady that runs Rainbow Snow, knows her because she goes there so often!
