Count Down To Christmas

Ok, here we go. Christmas will be here before we know it. I tend to get really stressed out this time of year, so this year I have a plan to help me actually enjoy the holiday season. My plan is to do some sort of "fun" Christmas activity each day until Christmas. Destrie is super excited this year, so I think this will be fun for him also.

Activity # 1
We set up all of our indoor Christmas decorations and the tree. Destrie (with help from Kiley) baked some Christmas cookies that he served us after the decorating was done. Then, we watched The Grinch (cartoon version). I bought an advent calendar for Destrie so he can help us count down to Christmas.

Happy Birthday Destrie 11-11-09

Destrie turned 4 years old last week. It was a fun filled week full of celebrations.
Destrie and Dawson

Celebration#1- Destrie's cousin Dawson has a birthday on November 1oth. We do a combined party for Destrie and Dawson. This year the party was on Sunday at Dawson's house. This party was with the Godfreys and Dawson's grandma Debby.

Celebration #2- Grandpa Hal's birthday is November 10th. So we went to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Destrie and Hal's birthday on Tuesday. Destrie was so excited to sit on the saddle. Curtis, Cami, Cody, and Nick and Katie came with us.

Celebration #3- On Destrie's official birthday, he went to preschool and handed out birthday donuts to his friends. We had Destrie's favorite food for dinner- Ramen Stir Fry or as he calls it-skinny noodles! We opened presents after that and then we went to a movie- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Then it was off to the store to shop. Destrie had money from grandparents and aunts and uncles. We shopped and shopped and shopped. Destrie found some fun toys to buy.

Hope your Birthday was great Destrie! We love you.

A Day of Fun

I know this is long, but read it anyway. I promise it's worth it !

Well today is the first official day of pheasant hunting. This whole thing is pointless, if you want my opinion. I refuse to eat pheasant (never have, never will) but hours are spent by my husband each year hunting these birds. I'm sure it's just a guy thing that I will never understand. So go ahead and have fun guys=)

The kids and I made our own plans for this Saturday. We started off with lunch at Olive Garden (this is where we go to eat when Kile is not with us-he HATES Olive Garden.) We were enjoying a lovely lunch at Olive Garden, Madee and Destrie where enjoying their vanilla shakes (which are delicious by the way) and I was having my usual soup, salad, and breadsticks lunch. Kiley ordered the calamari appetizer. Today was the first time I tried calamari and it wasn't bad. We were almost done eating when Kiley tossed a sugar packet at me across the table because I was teasing her about tractors- but that's another story for another time. Anyway, Destrie wanted to play also so he grabbed a sugar packet and and "hucked" it across the table trying to hit Kiley. The boy has a good arm on him and he threw it pretty hard, launching it over in to the booth behind us, hitting a guy in the head! I profusely appologized, this guy just laughed. Thankfully he was a nice guy and not an uptight snob.

We left the restaurant and headed to Ellen Eccles Theatre to see "Thoroughly Modern Millie." Kiley's friend Brock was in it. We saw him perform last year in High School Musical. Going to watch Brock perform is becoming a yearly tradition. We were walking into the theatre and guess who is walking in right behind us? Ya you guessed it... the guy from the restaurant that Destrie just hit with the sugar packet! The guy laughed and said to Destrie, "No more throwing sugar packets at me!" The musical was good and we had a great time.

After that, we went to Sam's Club. As we were walking in we passed a man who was wearing an eye patch. Destrie saw him and said very loudly, "Hey look! Its a pirate!!!" And then we saw the old guy that was in Napolean Dynamite! You know- the farmer that talked about the Shoshone arrowheads. It was a great day.

We now need to plan an adventure for next Saturday as I am sure that Kile will be wandering the hills again in search of those stupid birds.

Too Funny

So Destrie was just looking at a picture of Kile and I on the day we got married. He came over to me and said, "Mom, why does Dad have a ponytail in this picture?" I told him that hair like that was cool back then. He then said, "Ya, well only girls have hair like that!" Destrie is not a fan of the mullet... I just had to laugh.

More Than Half

Kile and Jen
November 3rd, 1990

Today is our Anniversary.
We have now been married to each other longer than we have not.
If you are doing the math, we have been married for 19 years.
We were 18 when we got married.

Although I am not a fan of country music,
this Taylor Swift song pretty much sums up our story back in the day.

Halloween Fun

Teacher Jen in her ever popular witch costume.
(I wear it every year to preschool.)

Destrie as a Dallas Cowboy football player.
I bought this costume about 10 years ago-
hoping that some day I would have a little
boy to wear it. Yay! My wish came true.
