Godfrey Christmas Party Activity #21

Today we went to a family Christmas party in Clarkston. We always do a dinner and a gift exchange. Destrie got a Crayola Color Explosion Board, Madee got jewelry, and Kiley got a make up bag with blush and a bracelet from grandpa and grandma. Kelly and Jeremy had our name this year and they gave us a Chili's gift card.
Poor Madee was sick, so Kile stayed home with her. The exact same thing happened last year to Madee. Hopefully she can join us at the party next year.

It's just not Christmas without a trip to the mall-Activity #20

We did some shopping and wandering around the mall tonight. Destrie sat on Santa's lap.
Have any of you been to the mall lately??? I must say that it smells delicious!

Activity 18 and 19

I am a little behind so I will be doing 2 activities here to catch up. On Thursday the parents and the kids at our house were not getting along. So, to ensure that the children were still around to enjoy the holiday season, Kile and I left and went to a movie. Let me reassure you, I am just kidding- we weren't really going to kill them, it had just been a really bad day. We saw "Old Dogs". It was a pretty good show- not fabulous but we liked it.

Last night was our annual Christmas party with our friends. Each year we host this party at our house. We have dinner, play games, and do a white elephant gift exchange. Our friends are so much fun and we always have a great time-with lots and lots of laughing.

As Christmas is quickly approaching- I am getting scared. I am not ready and I have NO desire to go to the store and finish my shopping. Ugh.

Activity #17

Tonight, we had Christmas carolers come to our door. In the 14 years that we have lived here- we have never had carolers before. It was pretty cool. Thanks Johnson Family =)

This kid cracks me up!

The the other night, Destrie was hanging out with Kile and I after the girls had gone to bed. (Ya he was still up, he can out last us most nights!) I can't remember what we were taking about, but out of the blue Destrie told us, "When I see the ladies, my eyebrows go up and down!" We laughed and laughed and laughed! Seriuously, I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!

Activity # 16

We went to get Holiday Mint Blast Shakes @ Sonic.
Funny thing is... none of the kids really liked them.

Kiley's 15th Birthday

Kiley's birthday was on Saturday. She had a great day of fun planned.

1) We would go to Red Robbin and get her favorite Pasta.
2) We would skip the cake (because her and I agree- cake is way over done and over rated.) We would instead have frozen Custard from Neilsen's in Bountiful.
3) We would shop at Layton Hills Mall.

We headed out to enjoy this day of fun, braving the horrible roads and bad driving conditions. We got to Red Robbin, ordered our food, the food came, and Kiley announced that she was not feeling well. She took maybe 2 bites of her food, and I don't know that she ate any of the birthday dessert that they brought out. We proceeded to Temple Square- hoping that she would feel better. No such luck. After quickly seeing the lights, we headed to Neilsen's. Guess what, still not feeling well, she was unable t0 eat any of that. We headed for home, we didn't even attempt to do any shopping at the mall. Kiley was still feeling awful and I was mad that on this of all days- she had to get sick- SO NOT FAIR.

To make a long story short, Kiley threw up on the way home. We got home, she laid down on the couch to watch a movie and fell asleep. Not the birthday we had planned.

Hopefully next year will be better.

Cute pictures of Kiley....

Activity #12

On Friday we went to a Christmas party at Scott and Mary's house. Everyone was supposed to dress up in a way that "screamed" Christmas to them. Unfortunately, my stupid camera died on me, so I have no pictures. I am waiting for some pictures to be emailed to us and then I will get them on here. There were some great costumes, good food and lots of fun. Thanks guys!

Activity #11

Destrie has been a bit of a challenge lately. Yesterday, I resorted to telling him that he needs to be good because Santa is watching. (I know, I know- I shouldn't say that and I hate it when other people do.) But, I did it. Anyway, he says back to me, "That's not true." I responded back with a "Yes it is, and there is even a song about it." So, I sang him Santa Claus is Coming to Town. We sang it over and over so he could learn it. I really doubt playing the "be good because Santa is watching " card will work. I guess we will see!

Merry Christmas to Me

When I went out to set up for preschool for this morning, I found out that there was no water. I turned on the tap in the bathroom and nothing came out. I went home and told Kile, "We may have a problem." And we did. Obviously the water line was frozen somewhere. Kile set up a heat lamp before he went to work. I checked during preschool, hoping the line had unfrozen- no such luck. So, I went through my work day with no running water (the toilet wouldn't flush either), thankfully that was not a problem.

Anyway, long story short, Kile spent several hours after work tonight thawing out the line- with help from our friend Brett Miller. Yay! It's fixed for now. So to explain the title of this post, I am so grateful for people who will take the time to help others. Thank you Kile- you are always there for me. Thank you Brett for taking time out of your busy schedule to help us.

So, no official activity today. But I know that I felt the true spirit of Christmas as others reached out to help me.

Activity #9

Today's activity was not actually a true Christmas activity.
What you could call it is a Christmas de-stressor (is that even a word?) activity. We enjoyed a lovely meal at Texas Roadhouse with our friends. Pulled pork dinner for me and steak and ribs for Kile, and plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. Yum. It was fun to take a break, chat, and enjoy some good food.
Actually there was something truly Christmas related that happened tonight. I was able to get presents for 2 people on my Christmas list. Two lucky families will be receiving some Texas Roadhouse "Yum" for Christmas!

A Failed Attempt/Preston is Lame

Tonight we headed out to do Christmas Activity #8. Every year we go to Preston to see the Christmas lights. There is a house there that we have been going to for several years. You may have seen it. It's at the Hollingsworth farm. They have amazing lights and several cute scenes featuring various Disney characters. Well, this year they didn't put up all their decorations. They had lights but none of the scenes. Major bummer. To try and salvage our night of looking at Christmas lights, we headed to the Preston city park area where they usually have some cute Christmas displays. But this year, no - nothing but darkness. We headed to Arctic Circle to get brown toppers for the kids and that was that. Now I will have to try to talk Kile into going to Willard to see their light show. I think that perhaps I will check in advance this time to make sure there is actually something to see.

Activity #7

Tonight, we wrapped Christmas Presents.
Destrie is really excited and asked if he could open his present today.
Waiting until Christmas Eve is going to be hard for him.

Jen buys for Destrie
Kiley buys for Jen
Madee buys for Kile
Destrie buys for Kiley

Yay! So glad to have that done. One more thing I can cross off my list.

Activity #3

We listened to Christmas Music while we cleaned. Anyone know where to find some really good Christmas Music? The stuff on on our TV was kind of hit and miss.

Activity #2

We read the "Night Before Christmas". We also put up Homer Claus and turned on the outside lights. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
