Weekend Get Away

Kile and Destrie hanging at the lodge at Beaver Mountain.

We took the girls to ski and snowboard this weekend. Kile and I don't do either so, we hung out. We had a lovely lunch at Cafe Sabor' while the girls were hitting the slopes. Ya, that's right... there is a Cafe Sabor' in Garden City. We spent the night at the condo and had fun just "chillin". The next day, we headed back to Cache Valley and ended our little get away with lunch at Sizzler. It was a good time.

We saw this tree and thought it looked really cool.

Everybody soooo tired at the condo after an awesome day on the slopes!

Drive Time

Yesterday was an exciting day in Kiley's life. We spent about and hour or so at the DMV (dang that place is busy), we went there to get Kiley's driving permit!! She had already taken and passed the written test, so she was set. Now, we have until December to get those driving skills down. Stay tuned for lots of driving fun to come...

Flying Pigs are among us!

Finally after 3 years and one month-ish I am parking in the garage. I lost that privilege back in 2006 when my Mom passed away and Curtis' family and my family cleaned out her house. Some things were just to valuable to give away. The problem was that we did not have anywhere to put her stuff. Hence my side of the garage got used (just temporary) for this storage. I heard once that there is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution. (No kidding!) 3 years, 3 Saturdays, one holiday, and one day taken off from work now has me back in the garage. My Dad commented to me that he had no idea that there was a cement floor on that side. Thanks for the jab, Dad! Anyways, it's a small accomplishment, but something we don't have to be embarrassed about anymore.

More crack ups... compliments of Destrie

People bring their computers over all the time for Kile to fix. Last week Kile had a computer here that he was working on, it belonged to a lady who was my English teacher in high school. Kile and I were down stairs watching TV when she came to pick up her computer. The kids opened the door to let her in and Destrie yelled down the stairs, "Dad, your lady-your girlfriend is here!" I laughed so hard.

Finally

In all the years that Kile and I have been married, I have never been able to get him to take the day off work simply to hang out with me. Well guess what? It finally happened, and today was the day. We slept in, worked out, booked a vacation, went to lunch and did some shopping. This probably doesn't sound very exciting to most people-but I thought it was awesome. I loved just having a "chill" day with my husband. Hopefully, we can do it again sometime and hopefully it won't take another 19 years to talk him in to it!

January = Blah

January is my least favorite month of the year. It is a month filled with too much cold, too much dark and it is the month when we feel a money crunch- resulting from spending too much money in December for Christmas. Well, as our luck goes, things just got worse.
Kiles truck began not running right last week. We were hoping it was just because of the cold. I parked outside over the weekend and Kile parked in the garage. Long story short, that was not the problem. Kile's truck has been in the shop all week, so I get to take him to work and pick him up from work. Good times. We just found out yesterday that the repairs for his truck will cost roughly $1,400. YIKES! I would tell you what is wrong with the truck, but I can't really remember- I don't know much about automobiles. So ya...added blah to a month that really didn't need any more.
We have had plans to go sledding, ice skating outdoors, and snow shoeing- but it is tooo cold. I say bring on the snow, better that than this bitter cold which I really don't enjoy.

Church clothes have more than one use.

Last night, I told Destrie to go in his room and get his pajamas on. He came out wearing a pair of blue church pants and a white, long sleeve button up the front shirt. Pretty fancy for bed. I was exhausted at this point so I choose to just let him wear them to bed. Does that make me a bad mom?
I guess if you feel you aren't getting enough use out of your church clothes, you can always be like Destrie and start wearing them to bed!
